Queen Anne Arm Chair
The Philadelphia Queen Anne arm chair is one of the most difficult pieces of furniture to make. Just about every line of the chair is a curve, and most of the parts need to be shaped by hand. The splat is sawed out of 1 1/2" thick stock, not bent. The seat tenons are carried all the way through the stiles which allows for very little tolerance in cutting the mortices in the back stiles. Making the arms and arm supports and fitting them to the rest of the chair is particularly challenging.
